This seems to be the only real pathos argument used, which leaves the reader with little emotional connection to the issue. Although using all three types of arguments may seem like a powerful way to drive a point home, I found it made the article seem inconsistent and ineffective. The majority of the rest of the article is rich in logos based arguments, stating percentages of people affected by obesity related diseases and offers various medical approaches to solve the problem, such as diet, exercise, medication, and surgery. Although the arguments were somewhat convincing, they did not have much emotional appeal that would drive the reader to really want to make solving this issue a high priority if they are not directly affected by the issue of obesity. Levitan and Davis’ article uses a different rhetorical strategy to convince the reader of their point-of-view. Using a combination of logos, ethos, and pathos arguments make the reader identify heavily with the issue of obesity and give the reader a desire to stand up to make a change because of this. Starting the article with a case study instantly draws the reader in through the use of ethos and logos rhetorical strategies. The case study is an example of appealing to ethos because it brings a high level of credibility to the argument and also draws the reader in through pathos through a sense of feeling compassion for the subject that automatically leads the reader into a mind frame of desire to understand more about Jane’s condition and help her situation. It brings a particular story to the table rather than, well, tables, and percentages, and allows the reader to instantly feel a deep connection to the subject. Rather than focusing on the medical and health affects of obesity like the Ward-Smith article, the Levitan and Davis article exposes a less popular subject of â€Å"an emotional relationship with food† involving â€Å"rituals† and â€Å"addictive qualities† all to â€Å"temporarily suppress negative emotions† (Levitan and Davis 784) that lead to obesity. They further their pathos argument by associating obesity with â€Å"negative mental health outcomes that markedly decrease one’s quality of life† (Levitan and Davis 785) and strengths this argument by adding a logos argument stating later in that same paragraph, â€Å"current strategies to prevent and treat obesity are currently unable to override the basic evolutionary processes that have protected humans from starvation over millions of years by making high-caloric foods a rich source of pleasure and reward† (Levitan and Davis 785). The later remarks linking obesity to a need to increase serotonin levels and genetic abnormalities also offer a compelling argument that also appeals to pathos by causing the reader to understand that obesity may be out of one’s control due to these physical factors that with current knowledge and science, we cannot cure. Bringing light to this aspect of the disease further supports this pathos argument, â€Å"recent evidence suggests that the brain reward circuits can be activated with natural rewards like food, just as with drugs of abuse† (Levitan and Davis 789). All in all, both articles have elements that make them powerful arguments, however the Ward-Smith article Obesity-America’s Health Crisis heavy emphasis on logos and ethos arguments with little appeal to pathos subtracts from its ability to provide the reader with a real sense of connection to the issue, leaving the reader with little impetus to actively combat the issue. The Levitan and Davis article Emotions and Eating Behavior: Implications for the Current Obesity Epidemic, on the other hand appeals heavily to both logos and pathos. The article causes the reader to feel a personal connection to the issue and appeals to the reader’s emotions to deepen this connection. Use of logos and ethos arguments strengthen the argument by bringing credibility to the article, which all work together to give the reader more of a desire to actively pursue their desired solution to the problem.

The group realized that the systems requirements model had a few shortcomings like it at times fails to meet the requirements of the user and this may go undetected   until the system is integrated, when this happens, it leads to unnecessary inconveniences in terms of both time and resources. Additionally, the model has a relatively longer than the desired development cycles. The fact that requirements change so quickly with advancements in technology and other related factors often render the systems requirement model unsuitable because of the high costs incurred during upgrades for the system to meet the new requirements (International Workshop IW-SAPF-3, Linden, 2001, p53 Satzinger, Jackson, Burd, 2008, p59). It was always challenging to decide when to transit to the design/ analysis model owing to the various shortcomings that are encountered at the requirements model level. The analysis / design model Casteleyn (2009, p43) asserts that the objective of any model is to support the efforts of the architect in making the project to have the right design, specification and decisions in order to achieve the intended goals.   The right design and specification is often assessed using denominators like business viability, customer satisfaction, meeting the constraints of the project and the associated risk levels. For the designer to be able to meet the required standards, he or she needs to work with sufficient credibility, accuracy and working range. In essence the analysis/ design model is an improvement on the requirements model as it relies on it in generating information like customer preferences, market trends and the industrial characteristics.   Once the requirements stage is well orchestrated, then the analysis/ design model will be more efficient owing to the reduction in errors (Wasson 2005, p89).   The reverse is also true as inefficiencies in design leads to errors be ing carried forward to the analysis/ design stage. Issues and limitations A good model should be able to detect any defects early in the life cycle of a product. As such testing should be carried out as early as possible in order to minimise the costs of repair. This implies that testing should be integrated in the design of the system so that it can be verified against the requirements as early as possible. This is the basis on which the requirements model works as it understands and outlines the set of requirements in advance. As earlier outlined, the main reason behind modelling is to contribute to easy identification of any incompleteness and ambiguity in the input material. The requirements model often assumes that the textual requirements provided as input in the process often adhere to very high quality standards, although this is not always the case as evidenced by the defects that often arise later in the process. This is in fact where the design/ analysis models steps in as it enables the requirements analyst to improve quality by further modelli ng the requirements in a formal representation as this allows for a detailed analysis of such requirements (Slooten, ebrary, Inc. 2002, p32).   The reliance of the analysis / design model on the requirements is very evident and critical as it reuses the requirements for the verification of the various available alternative designs. This ensures that the final product is greatly improved because the errors and any other mishaps are fixed in time (Information Resources Management Association 2011, p67 IFIP WG 8.1 et al 2007, p77). One of the biggest issues that faced the group and is also a challenge to the other software developers is knowing when and how to transit from the requirements stage to the actual design/analysis stage. This was a major point of contention as some members felt that we were transiting too early while others felt that it was the right time to make the transition. The challenge here is to make the right call because an incorrect one can be very costly in terms of both time and resources. An early leap puts the whole project on the precipice of collapse because of the sketchy requirements whereas a late leap leads to postponement of high risks as they are transferred to the later stages of the project lifecycle. Possible improvements to the teams work (with regards to the specific chosen topic) One of the most important things that the group realized was that it is very important to make smooth the transition process from the requirements to design/analysis model.   It is important to have an artifact that ties directly the two workflows into one organized unit (Tari,   Corsaro,   Meersman, 2004, p72 Chiang, Siau, Hardgrave 2009, p56). The project team should make good use of case realization as the transitional artifact. This activity should occur in the first recapitulation of the elaboration phase. The use case realization acts as a transitional element that specifies how the use case will be implemented in the final project. However, it is critical to note that the use case realization is indeed a composite artifact that contains other design models that are a representation of the actual realization. The collaboration diagrams and UML sequence are some of the models that the group can use as case representations.   Once the group makes good use of this then the whole process of transition will be relatively easy as it leads to efficiency of the whole process. The title also means a region on the border between Heaven and Hell, referring to the slaves journey on the ship as, in their eyes, India is Heaven and America is Hell, and they are in the middle of the two, journeying towards Hell. Alternatively, the word means a state of uncertainty or a state of imprisonment or confinement. The slaves were imprisoned on the ship with no means of escape, their future already mapped out in front of them. The poem is set out into 24 loose and rhythmic stanzas of varying lengths, giving the poem a beat as means to giving it backing music which the dance would involve. There are 7 repetitive choruses, making it seem more like a dance. These choruses are presented in italics to represent the echoing of the slaves replies to the guards. A lot of language devices have been applied in Limbo. The word stick is mentioned six times in the poem, and each way can be interpreted differently. In Limbo, the dance, dancers have to take turns going under the constantly lowering stick without touching it. If they touch the stick they face disqualification, running parallel to the fact that many slaves couldnt last the entire journey and were therefore thrown overboard in order to produce space. The stick also represents the whip with which the guards used to hit the innocent slaves with to get them in line. Lastly, this could mean the drumstick, which provides the beat and therefore atmosphere for the dance. Effectively, the poem is written in 1st person, as though Brathwaite was a slave and this is his own personal experience. This adds drama to the whole poem as it is presented as a first hand account and therefore more reliable. As a reader, it also makes us more vulnerable to succumb to this feeling of frustration at the way slaves were treated and what there thoughts and feelings were.

A Mother's Choice In her short story "Everyday Use", author Alice Walker introduces us to a Mother awaiting the visit of her daughter, Dee, who has left her rural upbringing to go away to college. Although we are not told an exact location, the descriptions provided by Miss Walker lead us to believe that the story is set in the very poorest section of the south. Momma narrates this story, and describes to us in her own simple way the dynamics of the family and the conflicts that arise with Dee's homecoming. Momma tells us she is uneducated; "I never had an education. After second grade, the school was closed." She further describes her rough, rural lifestyle. "I can work outside all day, breaking ice to get water for washing...One winter I knocked a bull calf straight in the brain between the eyes with a sledge hammer and had the meat hung up to chill before nightfall." Although seemingly simple and backward, Momma clearly describes the differences between her two daughters, the conflict that comes about with Dee's homecoming and the choices she is forced to make between her two girls. Maggie and Dee are two sisters that are as different as night and day. When Momma talks of Maggie, it is with a sad and gentle reflection of this daughter's lot in life. "Have you ever seen a lame animal, perhaps a dog run over by some careless person rich enough to be kind to him? That is the way my Maggie walks." Momma tells us, however that Dee, "She would always look anyone in the eye. Hesitation was no part of her nature. " Where Dee is pretty and bright, Maggie is scarred and slow. Momma seems more content being in Maggie's presence, having more in common with her than with her daughter Dee. She and Maggie tend the house together, ... ...py and shout." The daughter who has the deeper family values, who understands the true nature of heritage will be getting the quilts. Although Dee tells momma "You just don't understand ... your heritage." it is she who does not understand the significance of what she holds in her hand. By making Momma the narrator, Alice Walker has given us a simple but clear viewpoint. Listening to Momma's voice, we can better understand the background that makes two daughters so opposite. Momma helps us comprehend the confusion and conflict that Dee's arrival back home brings, and how everyone reacts. Through momma's narration, we can follow her thought process as she wrestles with the decision of who should get the quilts. Without Momma, the reader would not feel as intricately involved in the story or identify with the emotions Alice Walker incorporates in "Everyday Use."

Most importantly, it is aimed at describing the population groups who are at risk for low health literacy, promote health, improve health education among those groups and make them aware of their lifestyle choices (Johnson, 2014). According to the Australias Health 2012 statistics, the health literacy accounts for 41% among the 15-74 aged group of people that is considered as adequate or above the level (aihw.gov.au, 2017). Moreover, the statistics showed that people who are living outside the major cities and disadvantaged areas have low level of health literacy with poor self-assessed health status (Banham et al., 2014). The health literacy is an emerging issue in Australia and more than 60% of the Australians have a low level of health literacy. The main reason for developing the policy is to address the difficulties faced by the disadvantaged and stigmatized population in assessing the health education. The policy is aimed at informing the individuals, disadvantaged groups and health care system about the different aspects of health and in reducing the health risk factors and in preventing illnesses (Greenhalgh, 2015). The stakeholders involved in the health literacy policy were consumers, community, health and education policy organizations, health care providers and health care managers. The goals of the health literacy policy were to embed health literacy among the health care systems and integration of health literacy into education. The purpose of health literacy policy is to provide accessible information and use to the disadvantaged population about health education and better health outcomes. The expected outcomes of the policy were to reduce the low level of health literacy among the consumers, address the consumer health needs and provide equity in health literacy among the disadvant aged groups (Boot, 2016). Gibbs Reflection cycle - 1 While placed with a social care team in a village, one noticed that the people are not aware of the basic health education. They are not aware of the prevention measures and different aspects of health. That moment was very sad and depressing knowing about the condition of the people there. One would perform better and make the most of the opportunity to educate the disadvantaged people about health. The incident was upsetting to witness the low level of health literacy in the area. The good experience related to the campaign was that it provided an opportunity to provide valuable health education to the disadvantaged people in that area who were at low level of health literacy. This opportunity could also make one feel bad that many people are unaware of the basic health education and are at low literacy skills. The social determinants of health like socio-economic status are a major hindrance to their health literacy. The experience analyzed that the health literacy policy developed by the Australian government is beneficial for the people with low health literacy. It encompasses the disadvantaged and stigmatized population educating them about health education, protecting them from low health literacy risk and spreading awareness about health education. This policy would bring about a great change that would reduce the burden of disease and cut down treatment costs in healthcare system. In this situation, one should provide ample of information to the people including children regarding the aspects of health, health education and helping them to make healthy lifestyle choices through the health literacy policy. If anyone encounters such a situation next time, one should try to provide information to the people as much as one can and spread awareness that will protect people from health risks. It would make them aware of preventive measures in giving transparent information and help in health promotion (Huseb, O'Regan Nestel, 2015). National Disability Policy The National Disability Strategy is a ten-year policy from 2010-2020 that is developed with an aim to outline the key areas of disability. It also addresses the future reforms for providing specialist service systems for disabled people, their families and caregivers in Australia (dss.gov.au, 2017). The policy would inform the disabled people, their families and caregivers about the different disability service systems that would help to improve the outcomes for the disabled people. The Commonwealth, territory, state and national government working in collaboration with the Council of Australian Government (COAG) are the stakeholders who developed the policy framework (dss.gov.au, 2017). The aim of this policy is to address the problems and challenges faced by the disabled Australian people in the present and in the future. The purpose of this strategy is to improve the access of services for the disabled people by introducing special services and programs including National Disabili ty Insurance Scheme. The expected outcome of this policy development was to improve the lives of the disabled people by providing them various services. The accessible and inclusive communities, rights to protection and justice, economic security, community and personal support, learning skills and services for their wellbeing are the priority areas of this policy (Dew et al., 2014). The access to physical environment needs like parks, transport, housing, communication technologies and digital information, recreational, sporting and cultural life for the disabled people. The measures for anti-discrimination, advocacy, complaint mechanism and justice systems for the people with disability, job opportunities, financial independence and adequate financial support for the disabled people who cannot work are included in the policy. The early education and care, higher education, employment and learning opportunities are addressed in this policy. Moreover, the policy consists of health se rvices, disability and health systems, health promotion that would provide their wellbeing and they can enjoy their life as normal. This strategy is mainly focused on bringing about change in the mainstream and community programs and services for the disabled Australian people and their families and caregivers (Whitburn, Moss OMara, 2017). This policy would help the disadvantaged Australian people with disability that has no access to the programs and services developed for them and their families. This policy would also help the people with disability to gain access to the services that would assist them to lead normal life as equal citizens (Dowse et al., 2016). Gibbs Reflection cycle - 2 While assisting the disability support team in a suburban place in Australia, one encountered that a disabled child had no access to educational services and deprived of other basic facilities. The child was not able to walk properly and as the school was far, he had no access to proper transport to go to the school. The childs family had no access to the mainstream facilities and is not aware of the services developed for the disabled people. This incident was depressing and sad after encountering the conditions of the disabled people, their families and caregivers. One would be upset after witnessing the disabled childs condition and felt pity for the other disabled people who had less to the healthcare services developed for them. The incident provided an opportunity to help the disabled people in making them aware of the services and facilities and in providing ample support to them. However, on learning about the condition of the disabled child and the familys condition, one would feel bad and try to help them as much as possible so that the child was able to go to school and lead a normal life. This incident made one analyze that there is an urgency to improve the conditions of the disabled people and their access to the main stream facilities. They also need to be made aware of the National Disability Strategy policy that is aimed at providing services that would improve the lives of the disabled people and their access to various facilities. After analyzing the incident, one concluded that the disabled people are not able to lead their life as potential and equal citizens. They are deprived of the various healthcare services and programs developed for them. Moreover, they require ample community support so that they do not feel isolated or deprived. It helped the family of the disabled child by making them aware of the policy and provided them access to the facilities that would help them. If one again encounters such a situation in the future, one will provide ample of support to the disabled people and make their families and caregivers aware of the various services, programs and the National Disability Strategy policy that is aimed at improving the lives of the disabled people and their caregivers. This policy would make them able citizens and help them in leading a normal life (Hayes, 2014). Workplace Diversity Policy Being a multicultural nation, Australian diversity is reflected at the workplace. There are people coming from different cultural backgrounds and addressing their preferences would contribute a diverse workplace. There should also be equal opportunities for all the people coming across the globe so that they can share the common culture of professionalism. The Workplace Diversity Policy 2014-2018 was developed with an aim to provide a working environment that is free from discrimination and promote equity (aic.gov.au, 2017). The employees have equal access to the employment opportunities and promotion is merit based. The policy would inform the organizations and employees about diversity based information in the Australian community and adopt methods that would promote a diverse workplace. The policy was developed by the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) in collaboration with HR, Executive and Manager in valuing and encouraging a diverse workplace in Australian community (Col lins et al., 2014). The policy is aimed at creating a supportive environment that includes all the employees from different cultural backgrounds and also address the needs of the Australian community (Ng Metz, 2015). The objectives of the policy are to encourage workplace diversity and equal job opportunities for all employees. It also aims to retain a diverse workplace that is aimed to value equity and diversity, prevent discrimination and promote a diverse environment. The purpose of the policy is to foster a diverse workplace in the Australian community, improvement of communication among the employees, prevention of discrimination and promotion of equity at the workplace in Australian community (Pinheiro, Charles Jones, 2016). The goals are to raise awareness and commitment to diverse workplace, retention of diverse workplace and provide supportive environment for meeting the needs of the diverse workplace (Barak, 2016). Gibbs Reflection cycle - 3 During the initial days of the job, he was preparing for the presentation to be delivered during the first session. The incident occurred when he was due to deliver his presentation in front of his team. His team leader started with the presentation and it was his task to continue with the presentation. However, when he was about to deliver his presentation, he got nervous, visibly shaky and struggled to speak. Despite knowing that he was new to job, the team members were unsympathetic and the team members smirked on hearing his accent. He felt miserably bad at that time and wanted to leave the job. He was embarrassed as he was unable to speak in front of his team and extremely angry towards the behavior of his team members. The incident made him depressed and he decided to talk to his team leader and manager about the incident. He realized that every person feels nervous before their first presentation and become tongue tied at the first instant. The situation made him feel bad on thinking about his team members. The reactions of the team members made his situation worse by not supporting him during the presentation. Instead of keeping quiet, he should have spoken to his team leader about the incident. He spoke to his team leader about the incident the following day. In retrospect, he should have informed his team leader about the incident immediately after the meeting. The incident made him realize that there is requirement of a diverse workplace and to promote respect for everyone. The stringent implementation of the Workplace Diversity policy is required in the organization. He felt that he should have informed his team leader in the preceding days explaining his nervousness. Then, he would have helped him to overcome his nervousness and perhaps the incident would have been avoided. In the future, one should talk to his or her seniors regarding ones nervousness and plan to work on ones presentation skills.
